Team Anam Cara kicked off this year's rally with a fundraising event at Rovalution- a Land Rover shop in the Vancouver area. For our first event of that kind we thought it was a great success. We even had Emily Miller (founder of the Rebelle), our hero and role model show up for the event!
The next day we headed up to Whistler for four rainy, but fun filled days of trails, demonstrations, campfires, and old and new friends at the BC Overland Rally.
BCOR is one of my favorite events because it is still a rather intimate affair; it is small enough that you could meet everyone there if you wanted, all the participants fit around the central campfire in the evening (where there are awesome raffle prizes given away every evening.) It seems like everyone is excited to talk about their latest adventure!
Even with the BC rain, and being from Colorado- with the most sunny days so I don't own a rain coat!- I had a great time learning about what companies were bringing to the market for safety or preparation for trips, and learning new techniques off-roading. I also got to lead a few trails with the Rebelle Rally! Penny and I were quickly making plans to attend the Rocky Mountain Overland Rally- the first year of the BCOR's sister rally in Gunnison, Colorado!
